More About Us

The 17th Tonbridge Scout Group is sponsored by Higham Wood Methodist Church, where (with the exception of Beaver Colony which uses Woodlands School) its meetings are held. The Group is part of the unique Higham Wood Scout and Guide Group founded in 1966, and has a Beaver Colony, two Cub Packs and and Air Scout Troop which has been recognised by the Royal Air Force since 1974.

Air Scouting is a special branch of Scouting in the UK. Being Air Scouts means that members of the Scout Section do all the things that a normal Scout Troop would do, plus a few extra aviation based activities. They wear a blue Air Scout uniform and follow the programme and badges laid out by the Scout Association. The troop is proud to be one of only 50 UK Air Scout Troops officially recognised by the RAF.
